How to unlock HYP2003 Token

If you want to unlock the HYP2003 token, you have landed correctly. HYP2003 is one of the most popular and secure tokens in India. A token is used to store a Digital Signature Certificate. Hence it is obvious to have a very secure password-protected system to access the certificate.

To secure digital signatures from unauthorised access, we use DSC Tokens. A token protects our DSC. It has an inbuilt pin-based security feature. Every time a user tries to access his DSC, he needs to enter a unique PIN. On successful authentication, the user can access his certificate.

This feature also helps in sharing certificates. Suppose a user wants to give his DSC to a professional for legitimate use. Along with DSC, he needs to share his pin too. If in future he wants to deny access to that professional, he can change the user PIN. Thereby, the user can protect his signature from misuse. But what happens when the user himself forgets the token pin? Since no one can access the DSC without the pin, the token becomes useless. It doesn’t have any value even for the user of the token. To protect this, a token unlocking system was introduced. Follow these simple steps to unlock your digital signature token.

HYP2003 Unlocking Methods

OTP Method: You can unlock your digital signature using the OTP method. First download the HYP2003 unlock utility. Then open the utility by unzipping it. You should connect your token to your computer before proceeding. Once you open the utility it will display the token serial number. Click on the send OTP button. a 4-digit OTP will be sent to the email ID and mobile no associated with the DSC. enter the OTP to unlock your Token.

Admin Unlock: This method is very risky. It can damage your HYP2003 token. If there is any mistake, your token becomes unusable. It changes the firmware of the token. It means root-level changes in the token. This method is for professionals only.

Open the Admin utility after inserting the DSC dongle. Confirm the token name and serial number as displayed on the system. Choose the admin reset option to initialize the root access. Now the system asks to set the root key. Enter a 6-digit root key. Next, the system asks to set the user PIN. Enter an 8-digit number to set your token pin and hit the submit button. If all goes well, a message will appear: token unlock successfully.
