Digital Signature Types and Usage.
Digital signatures are gaining popularity in last few years. Most specifically government websites make it compulsory to use digital signatures while applying for any service. But it is a technical product. Most people lack proper knowledge of it. More than 27 per cent of users apply for digital signature certificates that don’t fulfil their needs. Therefore it is essential to know all types of digital signatures and their usage.
- Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate or Class 2 DSC is suitable for non-essential signing purposes. Indian Government discontinue its application in 2021.
- Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate or Class 3 DSC is now the highest-selling DSC. All government portals are demanding this DSC. ITR portal, MCA portal, GST portal, Icegate, eProcurement etc portals recommend this DSC.
- DGFT Digital Signature Certificate is a special-purpose DSC. Only those organisations having Import export codes can apply for this. One should buy this DSC to renew or extend the validity of the IEC code.
- Digital Signatures for Foreign Nationals are also available. If an Individual or organisation who is not a citizen of India wants to apply for a DSC, he/she should apply for this DSC only.
- Applicant needs to record a video while applying a digital signature. But some people can not record video due to many personal problems. Therefore they choose DSC without video verification. In this DSC no separate video recording is necessary.
- Some people prefer Emudhra company DSC. They are not aware of other companies. They can order an Emudhra Digital Signature Certificate.
